Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres owner and CEO, Terry Pegula, is being inducted into the Scranton Prep Athletics Hall of Fame.

As part of the 2024 Legends Hall class, Pegula '69 will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during Friday's August Celebration of Sport.

Pegula has always had a love for sports. In February of 2011, the Pegulas purchased the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and in October 2014 they received unanimous approval from the NFL owners to succeed Ralph C. Wilson Jr. to become the second owners of the Buffalo Bills. His purchase of the Buffalo Bills cemented Pegula as one of the only owners in professional sports to own multiple teams in multiple professional leagues.

During his tenure as owner and CEO of the Bills, Pegula has served on the NFL's Health and Safety committee, fan engagement, and Major Events and the DEI committee. In 2016, he and his wife were honored with the Tank Younger Award, which honors contributors towards diversity in the NFL.

Pegula was a key component in successfully negotiating a deal with New York State, Erie County, the NFL, and the Bills on the New Highmark Stadium that is slated to open in 2026.

Along with Pegula, former NBA coach and broadcaster P.J. Carlesimo '67, former ABA player and Duke legend Stephen Vancendak '62, former ESPN executive John A. Walsh '62 and former Pennsylvania governor Robert P. Casey '49 will be among the other honorees.

Pegula has hosted the Scranton Prep football team each of the past two years during Buffalo's Blue & Red practice at Highmark Stadium.

Following his time at Scranton Prep, Pegula attended Penn State University as a math major and was accepted into the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Program and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1973.

Pegula's first job out of college was with Getty Oil Co. in Victoria, TX. After working there, he found his way to Western, NY, by way of Felmont Oil Co., working as an Area Engineer.

In 1983, Pegula created and founded East Resources Inc., an independent oil and gas exploration company. He owned the privately held company until 2010, when he sold the company to Royal Dutch Shell. In 2012, he formed JKLM Energy, that employed many former East employees.

Upon selling East, Terry and his wife Kim, gifted $102 million to his alma matter, Penn State, to construct Pegula Ice Arena, which created a pathway for Division I hockey to be played at Penn State.

The Scranton Prep Athletics Hall of Fame was founded in 2022 and was the kick-off event for the Prep Athletic Club (PAC). The PAC was designed to bring alumni, family, and friends closer to Scranton Prep and the traditions that they carried.

The Bills held their annual open training camp practice at Highmark Stadium on August 2nd. Check out the best photos of fans from the event.
