The outlook is an optimistic one for LeSean McCoy's availability on Sunday in New England, but he and fellow running back Chris Ivory were part of a long list of limited practice participants Wednesday.
Both McCoy and Ivory missed last week's game against Detroit with hamstring and shoulder injuries respectively.
Buffalo already lost one running back, moving Marcus Murphy to injured reserve Tuesday after he suffered a dislocated elbow. Rookie Keith Ford, who made his debut last week, is the team's third back.
Among the other notable players who were limited in practice Wednesday were K Stephen Hauschka, WR Isaiah McKenzie, DE Trent Murphy and LB Corey Thompson.
More will be known about their status as the week progresses.
Veteran DT Kyle Williams did not practice at all due to a back injury. No word from the team on the severity of the injury.
