AFC Playoff Picture | Who Buffalo Bills fans should root for in Week 15

BBC-600_2024 Who To Root For_WK15_Web (1)

The Buffalo Bills had their seven-game win streak snapped last week in Los Angeles and are back on the road this week to take on the 12-1 Detroit Lions. The Lions haven't lost since Week 2 and clinched a playoff spot last week with a win over the Packers.

The Bills remained the No. 2 seed despite losing to the Rams and the Chiefs beating the Chargers. They currently own a tie-breaker over Pittsburgh due to strength of victory.

Heading into Week 15 here's how the AFC Playoff Picture looks:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (12-1)*
  2. Buffalo Bills (10-3)*
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3)
  4. Houston Texans (8-5)
  5. Los Angeles Chargers (8-5)
  6. Baltimore Ravens (8-5)
  7. Denver Broncos (8-5)

*Clinched Division

If the season ended today, Buffalo would host the Broncos in the Wild Card Round.

Here's who Bills fans should root for to help their playoff seeding.

Kansas City Chiefs (12-1) at Cleveland Browns (3-10) | Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. on CBS

Who to root for: Root for the Browns

Why: Following last week's results, the Chiefs now have a 72% chance of earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

  • A Chiefs loss + Bills win would decrease those odds to 35%
  • A Chiefs win + Bills win would keep those odds at 72%
  • A Chiefs win + Bills lose would increase those odds to 92%

Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) at Philadelphia Eagles (11-2) | Sunday, Dec. 15 at 4:25 on FOX

Who to root for: Root for the Eagles

Why: If the Bills are unable to get within reach of the AFC No. 1 seed, the Steelers are currently the team in position to challenge Buffalo for the No. 2 seed.

Best Case Scenario

  • A Bills win + Chiefs loss + Steelers loss would keep Buffalo at the No. 2 seed but would increase their odds of earning the No. 1 seed to 62%. Buffalo would also have a one-game lead over Pittsburgh for the No. 2 seed.

Worst Case Scenario

  • A Bills loss + Chiefs win + Steelers win would drop Buffalo to the No. 3 seed. Buffalo would have a 62% of earning the No. 2 seed.
