The Bills have a new defensive back on their roster. Safety Darrick Forrest signed a one-year deal with Buffalo on Thursday.

"My sense on the Bills is that they have a great culture, they have a great team," Forrest said. "They love winning. And I can always feel that the people around here, they really love each other."

Forrest, 5-11 and 200 pounds, spent his last four seasons with the Washington Commanders. The safety played in 10 games and started in one last season.

His best season came in 2022 when he had four interceptions, nine passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 88 total tackles in 17 games (11 starts).

"I'm able to prove that I'm still that same athlete that I was in the '22 season. You know, I had setback, but, you know, there's nothing for me but to just keep going and go back out there and play the same ball that I played."

Forrest has totaled four interceptions, 137 total tackles, nine passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery since 2021.

"I am a high-flying guy that can create turnovers," Forrest said. "I'm a guy that brings a lot of energy. I feel I'm a leader. I'm a guy that likes to go out there and create mistakes. So, I feel like I'm a problem solver."

Forrest will be joining a safety room that includes Cole Bishop, Taylor Rapp and newly re-signed Damar Hamlin and will be competing in that DB room.

"I love competing, and I love coming in and competing and we got a great group of guys competing, too," Forrest said.

The safety was drafted by Washington in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played college football for Cincinnati and is from Columbus, Ohio.
