1 - Christian Wade looks to transfer rugby skills to running back
The Bills added another running back this offseason, Christian Wade. Wade has been assigned to the Bills as a part of the league's 2019 International Player Pathway Program. Wade, a former European rugby star, spent the past eight years in the Premiership Rugby league but is now ready to move on.
"I had been playing for 10 years and I kind of started to lose motivation and I wanted to challenge myself," Wadesaid on One Bills Live."With the NFL it was an opportunity that came up and it was something I definitely wanted to take my chances with. I knew I had to undertake this opportunity because if I didn't I would regret it the rest of my life."
Wade scored 487 points for the London Wasps in 159 career appearances. He has been preparing for months for this opportunity and had a chance to show off his skills during a pro day at IMG Academy in Florida.
"I think it's based around being able to make people miss and footwork," Wade said. "Outside of the field in the professional world and having that experience that you can't really buy will help me. Stuff like nutrition and learning the game will help me out as well."
The International Player Pathway Program is a 2017 NFL initiative that aims to provide elite international athletes the opportunity to compete at the NFL level, improve their skills, and ultimately earn a spot on an NFL roster according to NFL.com.
2 - Micah Hyde believes Bills have chance to dethrone Patriots
The New England Patriots have won the AFC East 10 consecutive years and 15 of the last 16. The Bills are entering year three with head coach Sean McDermott, the year that most coaches are able to make a jump with their team. Bills safety Micah Hyde believes the team has what it takes to dethrone the Pats.
"I do. Honestly, I love what he and the rest of the coaching staff is doing with this football team," Hyde said onUp to the Minute with Andrew Siciliano."He's motivating us and telling us that we can do it and you know lot of guys in the locker room are getting around him. And we believe we have a chance."
Hyde will be entering his third season with the Bills in 2019. Hyde finished this past season with two interceptions, five passes defended and 58 tackles as the Buffalo secondary finished as one of the top units in the league.
The Bills have brought in numerous additions to the offense this offseason and have a definitive starting quarterback. That might make things a little easier this season.
"We know [Josh Allen] is going to bring it each and every game, he's competitive you saw that his rookie season," Hyde said. "As a defensive player on this team we appreciate everything they would bring to our football team."
Hyde says the key for the Bills to compete for years will be consistency, and with McDermott the Bills are doing that and heading in the right direction. A lot of players in the locker room are willing to put in the work and for now that's all they can do.
3 - Kyle Brandt thinks Bills can win now
Good Morning Football's Kyle Brandt is a bit excited about the Bills this season. While going through the rosters of the AFC East and the new rosters they had, Kyle Brandt thinks there's something to watch in Buffalo this season.
"I'm going to say this again, I want you to picture this offense. Fantasy, reality whatever. You got Josh Allen, you got Shady, you got Gore, they're going to be productive. Zay Jones, John Brown, Beasley over the middle. We can win with that lineup and we can win now. If Allen makes the jump and those guys do their thing, it looks pretty good to me. I'm more excited about the Bills right now than I've been in half a decade."
With over 10 new acquisitions this offseason it's hard not to be excited about what's going down at One Bills drive this season.
