The Buffalo Bills have made the following transactions ahead of the start of Training Camp:

  • Signed RB Darrynton Evans and TE Jace Sternberger to one-year deals.
  • Released TE Nick Guggemos.
  • Placed RB Nyheim Hines on Reserve/NFI list.
  • Placed LB Von Miller, LB Tyler Matakevich and DT Jordan Phillips on active/PUP list.

The Bills added two depth pieces to the offense with the signings of Evans and Sternberger.

Evans, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound back, was a third-round pick by the Titans in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played for Tennessee for two seasons before spending the 2022 season with the Chicago Bears where he appeared in six games and totaled 64 rushing yards and 33 receiving yards.

Evans also has experience as a return specialist; he has 10 kick returns for 223 total yards in his career. He is from Daytona Beach, FL and attended Appalachian State.

Sternberger is a 6-4, 250-pound tight end who was drafted by the Packers in 2019. Most recently, Sternberger played for the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL and helped lead the team to a USFL title this summer.

Sternberger set the modern USFL record with seven TD receptions and was named a 2023 All-USFL selection. He is from Kingfisher, OK.

The Bills begin Training Camp on Wednesday at St. John Fisher University.
