Buffalo focused on offensive tackle and center in the first week of free agency, but in the market's third week, the Bills made an addition at guard, agreeing to terms with free agent Quinton Spain on a one-year deal.
A four-year starter for the Tennessee Titans, Spain, 27, has made 48 starts in 50 career games. The West Virginia product made the Titans roster as an undrafted rookie. After playing sparingly at the beginning of his rookie season, he started the final six games at left guard and became a full-time contributor in 2016-17 with 27 starts at left guard.
In fact, Spain appeared in his first career NFL game against the Bills on Oct. 11, 2015.
Known as a road grader with attitude, Spain was a dependable part of a Titans line that considered among the best in the league in 2016 when the club ranked third in the league in rushing. He also offers position flexibility to play guard or tackle.
Spain, who is the sixth free agent lineman signed by the Bills, is expected to compete for a starting role at guard in what has quickly become a very competitive position group heading into spring OTAs next month.
