Bills sign Gable Steveson as an undrafted free agent

There's a gold medalist joining the Bills roster.

Today, the Bills announced the signing of Gable Steveson as an undrafted free agent defensive tackle. Steveson, 24, earned a gold medal as a heavyweight wrestler in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. He defeated Georgia's Geno Petriashvili in the gold medal match and became the youngest freestyle wrestler to win Olympic gold in the super heavyweight division – 21 years, two months and six days.

Steveson will wear No. 61 for Buffalo.

Steveson is 5-11 and 266 pounds and a native of Apple Valley, MN. He was a two-time heavyweight NCAA champion at the University of Minnesota (2021, 2022). Steveson was also the first two-time heavyweight winner of the Hodge Trophy (2021-22) awarded to the best college wrestler in the nation. He finished his college career with an 85-2 record and was a perfect 48-0 in dual competitions.

Steveson was signed to WWE from 2021-24. He was named after wrestling icon Dan Gable. Dan Gable won wrestling gold in the 1972 Munich Games and went on to become a legendary coach at the University of Iowa.
