The Buffalo Bills are adding depth at the safety position.

The team announced the signing of safety Kareem Jackson to a one-year deal. Jackson is a 15-year NFL veteran who finished the 2023 season with the Houston Texans. Jackson will wear No. 27.

On Monday, Sean McDermott announced that Mike Edwards is out on a week-to-week basis due to a hamstring injury.

He has started 193 of 203 regular season games plus eight postseason games in his NFL career with Houston (2010-18, 2023) and Denver (2019-23). Jackson has totaled 954 tackles and 22 interceptions (returning three for touchdowns) during his career.

Jackson was originally drafted by Houston with the 20th overall pick in the 2010 draft out of Alabama. He was a member of the 2009 Alabama BCS National Championship team.

Jackson is a native of Macon, GA.

To make room for Jackson, the Bills released LB Shayne Simon.
